Story by Jay Moon
For some seniors in New Zealand, dying is becoming about much more than making sure a last will and testament is in place or funeral arrangements are finalized. (Make sure the Perry Como is played while the reception tea is being served!) Since 2010 several Coffin Clubs have sprung to life across New Zealand, allowing people not only a support group they can address their understandable fears of the afterlife but also a creative outlet to help let their personality shine during a time when it is usually pushed aside. The Coffin Clubs website promises its members an avenue where participants can meet socially, discuss the question of death and, of course, make and decorate their own coffin.
